WE WILL NOT ENGAGE IN SLAPPs
Global Citizen and Protect the Protest’s Private Sector Anti-SLAPP Pledge
Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) are a growing threat to our freedom of speech and target major organizations and everyday citizens alike. Being able to voice issues of public concern is the quintessential American right and allows everyone to have a say in the future of our communities.
Supporting anti-SLAPP policy demonstrates respect for a vibrant and thriving society and promotes safe civic spaces. Legitimate critique by members of the public are a guiding force for better business practices and standards. Many corporations value these contributions, as they contribute to the development of best business practices over time. To date, 32 states and the District of Columbia have anti-SLAPP statutes on the books. All were passed on a bipartisan basis.
